Fe Arts Gallery is a volunteer driven organization. Since its inception, Jill Larson, the founder has operated as the curator and director on a volunteer capacity. We have been fortunate to have worked with dedicated volunteers and with student interns from local universities for the past several years.


Internships

The Fe Arts Gallery internship is designed for a creative and independent individual who wants to have a direct impact on the local art scene in Pittsburgh. Responsibilities involve learning all aspects of running a small non-profit gallery including working directly with national and local artists.

The intern will act as the Gallery Assistant, working directly with the local and national press, granting agencies and corporations, and board members. The Gallery Assistant will work along side the curator and be involved with the selection process of exhibiting artists along with scouting for potential artists, attending local studio visits, and program development. Assistance with educational programming including development of an international exchange program will be integral.

Since Fe Arts Gallery is a small organization, the intern will be valued in all areas from Gallery sitting to mass mailings to learning how to handle, install, de-install, pack and ship a wide variety of artwork.

Internship requirements vary according to an individual’s school stipulations and/or personal interests. It is helpful for prospective interns to possess a general knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Photoshop. In addition, we look for those with a professional office demeanor and a strong desire to work independently on a wide variety of tasks. Fe internships are unpaid. Become a Volunteer

We have many opportunities for ongoing and special events volunteers—volunteer once a year or once a week!

Attend our special events for free when you contribute a few hours of your time on the day or night of the event. Or get a little closer to the Fe family by helping out in the gallery more regularly—we always need an extra hand with bulk mail, gallery sitting, painting, and a host of other hands-on or computer tasks.
